Description:Soul of Darkness is a pretty good game. With intricate gameplay devices such as the use of magic to solve puzzles, platforming and combat it stands out from many of the junk cell phone games out there. However, the gothic setting, dark plot, and even more sinister enemies practically scream “Castlevania clone,” and indeed it feels like a watered down version of the popular games in that series. The game even has a plot, and although it lacks any major detail, it is entertaining enough to get one through the nine levels and several hours of gameplay.
The hero of this story is Kale, who is on a quest to avenge his family from the evil vampire Ritter. Kale must journey through dark castles, caves and forests in order to defeat Ritter and accomplish his goal. Before each level begins, there is a small amount of dialogue and sometimes a small scene depicting Kale's journey as it is explained what new dangers he must face. The scenario is nothing new and is cliched beyond all belief, but it is good enough considering the short-to-moderate length of this game. On the way to defeat Ritter of course, Kale must battle through hordes of zombies, vampires, and other undead legions throughout the lands. |
